The different layers of local government have their climate action programmes – and put out regular news as to how these are progressing.

Here’s a very approximate list of what’s happening:

February 2024: The EDDC Climate Change Strategy 2020 – 2025 sets out an ambitious programme of action to not only reduce our carbon emissions year on year, but also to mitigate against the threats that climate change place on our communities. The strategy was developed following some research we carried out with the help of the University of Exeter to establish our current carbon footprint. This has provided a baseline for use to work from. You can find out more about this research here.

November 2023: Update on climate change action plan progress: Meeting of Scrutiny Committee, Thursday, 16th November, 2023 6.00 pm (Item 35.)

DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL

March 2024: Clyst Valley and parts of Mid Devon have got Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) out for consultation, setting out aspirations over the next decade or so.
