Telling climate stories

We all like a good story – and it’s stories that move us.

If you’d like to hear some story-telling from people who know what they’re talking about, on Thursday week – November 6th – we have the University of Exeter star climate scientists (and authors of international reports) speaking on new stories about the climate crisis…

If you’d like to hear some sci-fi inspired story telling, then why not consider the growing visionary phenomenon of SolarPunk as offering narrative strategy where we can ‘galvanize around a vision in which technology works in service of ecology’.

And if you’d like to ‘do something’ and get others on board, then maybe we need to look to how storytelling, creativity and collaborations can inspire climate action. You might even try out a new version of Minecraft to see why environmental storylines help children learn

Finally, we have some great story-telling happening here in the Sid Valley.

This week, the Sidmouth School of Art and partners is putting on free half-term workshops: where art and nature meet, whether it’s sharing memories about the River Sid or creating stories to tell on posters for the upcoming COP30 conference.

And of course we have the fabulous Jo Earlam and her book Tuamor the Turtle who have appeared at various events, including the recent Eco Hub Sidmouth – with the book very much ready to dip into at the Library! Here’ some Storytime with Jo Earlam and Rosa’s Footprint – also at the Library this summer:
