Exeter Community Energy @ the ECO HUB Sidmouth: offering free advice on keeping cosy

The ECO HUB Sidmouth launched its fortnightly sessions this month – with a focus on saving energy and keeping warm, one specific project offering locals the chance to sign up for the CAPS/Town Council’s free thermal imaging survey.

And other practical help was on offer at the Eco Hub.

At the session at the Library on Saturday 25th, Harry Bonnell of the Exeter Community Energy project was able to give detailed advice to over a dozen households, as well as talk to other visitors to the Eco Hub stand. Some of the issues included:

  • accessing fuel payment support for those struggling with health issues,
  • advice on heating after removing storage heaters,
  • tariffs for maximising solar panel and battery usage,
  • advice on loft insulation, heat pumps and heating systems/underfloor heating,
  • automation and heating controls for room zoning,
  • ventilation and humidity build up causing mould.

LEAP helps to support as many people as possible who are at risk of going into fuel poverty. Our service is open to all types of householders – homeowners, private renters and social housing tenants.
